Disapproval

If you’ve ever lived with rabbits, you know that their default reaction to any situation is disapproval, and strong disapproval. They are much like vegans and Catholics in that way. But you know what? If your ears were that long and your feet were that floppy, you’d be entitled to unattainably high standards too.

How did I learn this singular fact about rabbits? By getting to know two of them: Horatio and Archie, aliases Death and Destruction. They tolerate my presence in their apartment, aerate my jeans through strategically chewed holes, and permit me to admire them from afar. They occasionally accept petting but do not lift the bunnies off the ground, please. When Archie found out I wanted to start a website, he talked it over with Horatio and they agreed it was acceptable as long as it didn’t interfere with prompt litter-box-cleaning and fresh-hay-providing. Also that I would type out and post Archie’s own periodic updates on the latest objects of his disapproval. Check it out.

Archie (l) and Horatio disapprove of red-eye. Thanks to Jere for braving their disapproval for the photo.
